HADAR, Neb. -- Dry, windy conditions are being blamed for stoking a field fire on Sunday.

Norfolk Fire Capt. Landon Grothe says NFD was sent to a soybean field about 4 1/2 miles southwest of Hadar Sunday afternoon.

Grothe says heavy winds, dry conditions, and high temperatures combined for challenging fire-fighting conditions.

He says several Norfolk firefighters took about two hours to bring the blaze under control with the help of a number of departments from Hadar, Battle Creek, Pierce, and local farmers.

No one was hurt. Grothe says the fire was likely started by a combine out in a field.
