WAKEFIELD, Neb. -- The Little Red Hen Theatre in Wakefield will be holding auditions for their yearly Christmas performance on Friday, Oct. 13 and Saturday, Oct. 14.

For the third time in the theater’s history, LRHT will be putting on a performance of “A Christmas Carol.”

“We’re looking for actors of all ages from six to 99+ of all types and abilities to help bring this classic story to life,” said Adam Goos, theater managing director.

Over 20 spots are open to be auditioned for.

Goos said that the show will have an ensemble cast so just about everyone who auditions will be able to participate in the play.

He detailed the audition process.

“We play theater games, we do drama activities, a little bit of improv, and we just pick up the script and just practice staging from scenes from it,” Goos said. “So, it’s a very low-stress audition.”

Goos said that the theater has cast members from as far as Sioux City, Ponca, and Pender participate in productions.

He said it’s a great opportunity to gain experience and have fun in the process.

“We also have a lot of people over the years who have gone on and made this a profession for them. The theater has been around since 1993 and so a lot of the youth who start young participating with us in education programs receive a kind of informal training through the work that we do here,” Goos said. “We have several youth that have come through and learned things at the theater that have gone on to pursue degrees in theater and higher education and are working in the field in various places.”

Auditions will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday.
