STANTON, Neb. -- Two people were taking to the hospital after a crash near Stanton.

The Stanton County Sheriff's Office said officers were sent to the intersection of 844th and Ridge Road around 8:00 a.m. on Friday for a report of a two-vehicle injury accident.

Officials said an SUV, driven by a 42-year-old, was going east and was turning north when he was hit by another car that was going south, driven by a 17-year-old.

According to authorities, both of the vehicles went off the road and flipped onto their tops in a ditch. The driver of the SUV was reportedly able to get out of his vehicle but the teen was trapped inside of his vehicle.

Officers said they were able to get the teen out of the vehicle and both drivers were taken to a nearby hospital for their injuries. Seatbelts were reportedly not used in the teen's vehicle and both of the vehicles are a total loss.
