Laurel man arrested after reportedly speeding in Stanton County

LAUREL, Neb. -- A Laurel man was arrested on Thursday after he was reportedly speeding and fled from police.
The Stanton County Sheriff's Office said they were notified that a motorcycle had fled a traffic stop near Hoskins around 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Officers said the motorcycle was driving on Highway 35 with no headlights or taillights and was traveling at a high speed.
According to authorities, a pursuit began as the motorcycle drove south in the northbound lanes of traffic. The driver reportedly went into a ditch and crossed into Woodland Park.
Police said the driver left the motorcycle and fled on foot but was taken into custody around 9:45 p.m., near his home in Norfolk.
SCSO said they arrested 19-year-old Austin Warburton, of Laurel, for operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving and having no motorcycle license. Additional charges are possible in Wayne County.
