NORFOLK, Neb. -- At the Norfolk Veterans Home..."Everyday is Veterans Day,” said Administrator Josh Stafursky.

The Norfolk Veterans Home will ne holding a ceremony to honor veterans on Veterans Day this Saturday.

Veterans will be celebrated with a flag raising ceremony and various programs from Friday to Saturday for their service to their country.

"We will never be fully able to repay the veterans that we work with for the sacrifices that they've made, the sacrifices that their families have made,” Stafursky said.

Stafursky said that across veterans' homes in the state, the celebration of Veterans Day always brings in one of the biggest crowds from those who've served and the communities.

"There's really a connection and a recognition on their part that this is a special day,” Stafursky said.

Leading up to the festivities, flags have been raised along the outside of the facility by volunteers.

"It's the incredible amount of time and energy and commitment that the volunteers give,” Stafursky said.

Community member Dayna Schaecher said that Veterans Day is the day for citizens to show their appreciation even if it's for only one day.

"It should be important to everyone, it's important to me to just at least have one day when they've given their whole lives a lot of them,” Schaecher said.

And she even gave a special message to her own veteran.

"Happy Veterans Day and we appreciate you, and shoutout to my brother Dylan Henry,” Schaecher said.

The events at Norfolk Veterans Home will allow veterans in the facility to be honored and honor others who have and are currently serving.

"You know keep the focus on taking care of America's heroes, Nebraska's heroes,” Stafursky said.
