Colorado man arrested following pursuit in Stanton County
STANTON, Neb. -- The Stanton County Sheriff's Office said they arrested a Colorado man following a pursuit late Wednesday.
SCSO said that 54-year-old Jerry Storovich of Colorado, formerly of Norfolk, was arrested just before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday near the Highway 275 and Highway 57 junction, north of Staton.
A deputy attempted to pull over Storovich, at the junction, for having defective brake lights.
Storovich, driving in an SUV, failed to stop, and fled west on Highway 275 for several miles before turning north onto a county road, according to authorities.
SCSO said he continued to flee on the county roads for about 10 minutes before the SUV entered a harvested field near 564th ave and 846th Road, southwest of Hoskins.
It was reported that Storovich tried to flee through the field before the SUV became disabled.
Storovich was taken into custody at gunpoint from inside the vehicle, according to SCSO.
Authorities said he was found in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The Sheriff's Office said that a larger quantity of meth was found in the field that had been thrown from the SUV.
Storovich is currently out on bond from felony charges in Madison County, Nebraska and El Paso County, Colorado.
SCSO said that the Nebraska State Patrol also responded to the incident and assisted.
The Sheriff's Office said that on Dec. 5, 2022, Storovich was arrested by them following a high-speed pursuit in the same vehicle.
This pursuit ended in Norfolk after deflation spikes were used to stop his vehicle, according to officials.
Storovich has been jailed pending the setting of a new cash bond on felony charges.
