PIERCE, Neb. -- Authorities in northeast Nebraska say a Pierce man died in a single vehicle accident early Monday morning. 

The Pierce County Sheriff's Office said that around 4:25 a.m., there was a single vehicle accident three miles northwest of Pierce on Highway 13. 

This accident killed a 43-year-old Jason Roberts of Pierce.

The man was driving south when the vehicle left the highway, struck a culvert and rolled several times. 

The man was reported to have been thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A passenger in the vehicle was a 12-year-old boy from Norfolk, and they were taken to a local hospital. 

Pierce Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. Pierce County Sheriff's Office is investigating the accident.
