One person dies following plane crash in Norfolk

Law enforcement say that a single pilot has died following a plane crash in northeast Nebraska Monday night.

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Law enforcement say that a single pilot has died following a plane crash in northeast Nebraska Monday night.

Just before 7:40 p.m., Norfolk Police, Norfolk Fire & Rescue and the Madison County Sheriff's Office were called to Karl Stefen Airport for a report of a airplane crash. 

The Norfolk Police Division said that emergency responders found that a single engine airplane had crash about one-half mile south of the runway just after take-off. 

A single pilot died at the scene. 

Law enforcement said federal aviation authorities were contacted and will respond to assist in the investigation.
