Nebraska State Trooper killed Monday during snow response

Monday afternoon the Nebraska State Patrol says one of their own has died while in the line of duty.

OMAHA, Neb. -- Monday afternoon the Nebraska State Patrol says one of their own has died while in the line of duty.

The NSP said a State Trooper was killed in a car accident, Monday, while they, and others, were responding to a crash on Interstate 80 - between Ashland and Greenwood. 

They said the name of the trooper will be released when it's appropriate. 

The NSP said they have asked the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office to investigate the incident. 

With weather conditions across the state, the NSP is urging drivers to be safe if they have to travel. 

I-80 was still closed between Ashland and Greenwood at 2:30 p.m. Monday.
