NORFOLK, Neb. -- Authorities said a fire that was started illegally destroyed a home in rural northeast Nebraska.

It happened Sunday afternoon at a rural home along 556th Ave. South of Norfolk.

Norfolk Fire officials said an illegal burn that was started on the property got out of control, at one point causing a propane tank to explode on the property.

No one was hurt, but a house and two outbuildings on the property were destroyed, while two other buildings were damaged.

The blaze drew response from nine different agencies.

Norfolk Fire Lt. Nathan Wortmann said in a statement that Nebraska is still under a Red Flag Warning, and that burning should be avoided.
