NORFOLK - Authorities are still working to determine the cause of a house fire in Norfolk.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Captain Scott Bonsall said that the fire was reported to them at 3:42 Monday morning.

Bonsall says six firefighters responded to the home in the 200-block of N. 9th St.

The occupant of the house was alerted to the fire by smoke detectors and was able to get out safely. Bonsall said they used a garden hose to try and put out the flames on the exterior of the house before the fire department arrived.

No injuries were reported. Bonsall estimated about $5,000 worth of damage was done.
