NORFOLK, Neb.— With six weeks left in their field training, five officers are officially apart of the Norfolk Police Division.

At the Johnny Carson Theater on Thursday, many came out to support officers Larson, Putters, Beaird, Hobart, and Carpenter. Eight promotions were also recognized at this event.

Brian Tighe was officially sworn in as Chief of Police. It was never a position he strived for but now he does not want to let his team down.

“I really appreciate the opportunity to make a difference within the division,” Tighe said. “I think we got all the right people on the bus and in the right seats right now."

The 2025 Supervisor of the Year award was given to Captain Mike Bauer who also received his own promotion.

Bauer helped the division navigate many changes in the last year according to Tighe. Tighe and Bauer have been good friends since the beginning of their journeys in law enforcement.

“I was his field training officer,” Tighe said. “We were pretty good friends then, working similar hours and stuff. And yeah, I was best man at his wedding.”

Norfolk Police Division now has five new officers joining the force, and one day they might find themselves in the same position as Tighe and Bauer.
