Waverly overcomes turnover issues to defeat Pius X 22-7

LINCOLN, Neb. — Waverly is heading into the playoffs as the only unbeaten team in Class B.<br/><br/>The Vikings overcame three turnovers to defeat Piux X 22-7 on Friday night.

LINCOLN, Neb. — Waverly is heading into the playoffs as the only unbeaten team in Class B.

The Vikings overcame three turnovers to defeat Piux X 22-7 on Friday night.

Vikings senior running back Nathan Axmann rushed for 95 yards on 25 carries and scored twice in the victory while Brockston Teply hit Brady Schieffer for 28 yard insurance touchdown with seven seconds to play.

Pius X senior running back Rylan Doering scored the lone touchdown for the Tunderbolts on a 10-yard carry on the games opening drive.

Both teams will advance to the Class B playoffs next week with Waverly locked in as the top seed.
