US92 raises record-breaking amount for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

NORFOLK, Neb. — Records were broken when country radio station US92 held its 25th annual St. Jude Radiothon to raise money for children battling cancer.
The radiothon spans two days, with 26 hours of broadcasting dedicated to sharing patient stories and encouraging donations.
US92 morning show host Becca Arkfeld says listeners across northeast Nebraska helped break their 2020 record with $286,201 dollars donated this year.
“Well it’s not me raising the money, this is all northeast Nebraska coming together. Im just so blessed and thankful that I get a platform and I get a job where I get the opportunity to have people in our area to give to such a cause,” said Arkfeld.
Over the past 25 years, US92 has helped raise more than $4 million dollars for St. Jude through its annual radiothon.
Co-host Caelan Debban of US92 says the money raised goes directly to families who are battling childhood cancer at St. Jude.
“Overtime all these parents say okay what’s my bill going to be, how much money do I have to pay? And they say ’nope it’s covered, the people of Northeast Nebraska have you $286,000 dollars they covered your expenses,” said Debban.
US92 even brought chickens on air to help encourage folks to donate $19 a month. Arkfeld says she doesn’t know what they’ll do for next year, but she’s says her community will have her back.
“How are we going to do it next year? Well, it’s kind of how did we do it this year,” Arkfeld said with a laugh. “It’s the people of northeast Nebraska. That’s all I have to say. It’s our listeners. It’s our community.”
Arkfeld says every dollar donated helps find a cure for cancer and encourages those who can to contribute.
