DALTON, Neb. — St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dalton welcomed community members Friday evening for its annual fish fry, serving up a hot meal and an opportunity for fellowship during the Lenten season.

The event was held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church on Francis Street. Volunteers began preparing the meal at 10 a.m. Friday in anticipation of serving about 120 people.

Guests were served pollock, tater tots, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, dessert and drinks. Proceeds from the event will benefit the church.

“We’re having our annual fish fry here in Dalton at St. Mary’s. We do it every year,” Church member Jim Ernest said. “It’s a great opportunity for people to come out, visit, enjoy each other’s company and have some good food.”

Ernest said the event continues to serve as more than just a fundraiser.

“It really is a great fellowship opportunity,” he said. “People are visiting with their neighbors and friends, and having a great time.”

It was the 15th year of the fish fry.
