Hastings student found dead at Morningside University during spring break
Morningside officials say Jaden Ochsner, a member of the women’s swim team, was found in her residence hall

HASTINGS, Neb. — Morningside University officials say a first-year student was found deceased in her residence hall during spring break.
In a statement posted to social media, the university identified the student as Jaden Ochsner of Hastings. Ochsner came to Morningside as a member of the women’s swim team.
University leaders said Ochsner “loved attending sporting events and visiting Bette, our campus animal ambassador.”
Her family has asked for “time and space right now while they process this unimaginable loss,” according to the statement.
The university said it joins the Morningside Athletics family, the women’s swim team and the entire campus community in extending sincerest condolences to Jaden’s family and friends during this difficult time.
“This is a sad day for the Morningside community,” the statement said. “Let us find strength in each other by joining together to mourn one of our own and to support each other through this difficult time.”
Ochsner attended Hastings High and participated in multiple sports. She made the Dean's List her first semester at Morningside.
