Together, these organizations have been awarded a grant from the Google News Initiative, which supports the production of original journalism for local communities in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

News Channel Nebraska and Telemundo Nebraska are part of one of Nebraska’s largest, and fastest-growing news operations, serving audiences across the state. More than 500,000 homes and 300,000 social media followers rely on News Channel Nebraska, and Telemundo Nebraska. The Google Journalism Relief Fund supports the top local news organizations as they continue to report on COVID-19-related news.

Monies received from the Google Journalism Relief Fund will ensure Flood Communications’ News Channel Nebraska and Telemundo Nebraska can continue delivering original news and information throughout the pandemic. This grant has been made available to small and medium-sized local news organizations employing between 2-100 full-time journalists.  A reported 12,000+ applications from more than 100 eligible countries were submitted for this grant.
