Norfolk, Neb. - Kids are seeing some normalcy this season in northeast Nebraska as summer camps open up.

Last year, the Family YMCA in Norfolk cut its camps short, but this year, Day Camps and a new Adventure Camp are starting up.

"We were really disappointed last year when we could only have half the summer with kids and the numbers were so low," Shayla Lind, Y Kids Club Director said. "It just didn't feel like camp."

Lind says the camps are giving most kids something they haven't had in a while.

"I think they're excited," said Lind. "I'm having parents call me saying they want new experiences for their child this summer because some of them have really lost out on a lot in the last year or two."

Lind says there will be temperature checks and health questionnaires each morning, masks will be optional, and social distancing will be encouraged.
