Low turnout OK's big bond issue

The owner of a $200,000 home in the Ralston School District will now pay an additional $130 a year in property taxes.

A small number of voters in Ralston have OK'd a major school bond issue.

It's an $84 million district wide fix-up that easily passed with 64 percent of the vote.

The owner of a $200,000 home will now pay an additional $130 a year in property taxes.

Voting was held over the last several weeks and done only by mail.

According to the Election Commission website, there are 12,275 registered voters in the school district and 3,260 cast ballots.

That's a 27 percent turnout.
