NORFOLK, Neb. -- The first ever Miss Nebraska Volunteer is coming to Nebraska, and it will be coming to Norfolk.

Miss Nebraska Volunteer is a nonprofit statewide, service-oriented scholarship program aimed at empowering women with education and opportunity, according to the organization. Board member Christin Lutt says the hope for Miss Nebraska Volunteer is to provide scholarships for female students in Nebraska, and eventually become the top organization that provides scholarships to women.

"Any amount of scholarship we can provide is great," Lutt said. "We really want to eventually be the top organizations that hands out scholarships to empower women."

Sandy Wolfe, the executive director of Miss Teen Nebraska, says that the scholarships are still in their early stages and there isn't currently a set amount of scholarships to give, yet. However, she did say it was the organization's goal to provide as many as possible.

To apply to the contest, there is a $150 fee for contestants to compete. The contest will be split up in age, one for teens and one for adults.
