O’NEILL, Neb. – A northeast Nebraska native and college wrestler has died, according to a news release issued by Northern State University.

O’Neill native Caden Moore was a senior special education major at the school located in Aberdeen, S.D. Authorities say Moore died unexpectedly and no foul play is suspected.

Brown County, S.D. Coroner Mike Carlsen said Moore, who was 22, was found Wednesday afternoon in his vehicle off campus.

Moore was a two-time state wrestling medalist for O’Neill High School, finishing second individually in 2016 and third a year later. At the collegiate level, Moore compiled a 48-18 record for the Wolves.

Students and staff at Northern have been notified of Moore's death.

“On behalf of our entire campus community, I extend our sincere sympathies to Caden’s family, friends and teammates,” Northern State President Neal Schnoor said in the release. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this extremely difficult time.”
