Governor Pete Ricketts was in the small town of Winside late Tuesday for the celebration of a couple who saved small children from a house fire on July 3rd. News Channel Nebraska got the chance to ask him about some Republican lawmakers calling for UNL Chancellor Ronnie Green's resignation following the release of the school's diversity plan.

"As I have already stated, I have lost all faith in Ronnie Green. This is up to President Carter, the Board of Regents to address. They need to take action," said Ricketts.

News Channel Nebraska also asked Ricketts about comments he made recently that stated that UNL's plan to address racism is itself discrimination.

"Because if you look at critical race theory, the proponents that they cite Ibram Kendi, have said that the only cure for past discrimination, is current discrimination. What they are talking about is discriminating against white people now because of past discrimination against black people. And that is an entirely a betrayal of Martin Luther King and the civil rights era where he dreamed of a nation where his children would be judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin," added Ricketts.

Recently, Ronnie Green backed the university's diversity plan saying, "I do not believe that UNL is racist, nothing could be further from the truth," Green said.
