LINCOLN, Neb. -- A longtime Husker is leaving the program.

Nebraska quarterback Adrian Martinez announced on Twitter Thursday morning that he is entering the transfer portal.

Martinez, a California native, was head coach Scott Frost's first quarterback recruit at Nebraska after Frost swayed the former Tennessee commit.

Martinez started four straight years for the Huskers, and due to the COVID-19 season, has another year of eligibility.

For his career, Martinez had 8,491 passing yards and 2,301 rushing yards.
