Little snow, but bitter wind chill across northeast Nebraska

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Much of the state's anticipated New Year's snow accumulation did not materialize, but cold air continued to put a damper on many people's holiday plans.
Much of the northeast Nebraska region, like many other parts in the state, saw less than an inch of snow thanks to dry air stifling most of the potential precipitation.
Meanwhile, the region got overnight temps that dipped below zero in places like Norfolk, Winside, O'Neill and others. Norfolk saw an overnight low of minus-6 degrees. On New Year's Day, Norfolk and the much of the rest of the region got wind chills below minus-20 degrees.
Saturday night and Sunday morning will have a similar feel, with overnight lows dropping as low as minus-10 in parts of the northeast Nebraska region. Later Sunday morning and afternoon should be more appealing, however, with temperatures creeping to near 30 degrees.
