'It's been a struggle': Local Nebraska merchandise store is feeling the effects of supply chain issues
NORFOLK, Neb.-- Like tons of businesses around the United States, a local sports merchandise store called 'The Husker Place' in Norfolk is also feeling the effects of supply chain problems. Cammie Schlievert, who is the manager at the store, said this past year has been hard to keep up with all of the issues that come with the supply chain shortage.
"It's been a struggle. We are very fortunate in the fact that not only that I'm here on the sales floor but I actually do all of the orders myself through the vendors. So, I know who to call, I know when we are out of stuff. One company canceled something, I can scramble and try to find it from another company. So, I was very fortunate in the fact that I did have if some companies couldn't for fill orders, I had other companies that could," said Schlievert.
With all of the items the store could not get in at times during the season or in recent months, what Schlievert told News Channel Nebraska might be surprising.
"These companies that we're so backed up with printing, it sounds silly but I was out of Nebraska t-shirts at the end of September, which is something we are never out of," added Schlievert.
Even with the supply chain issues, Schlievert said it was a good past year for the business.
"Honestly, it was really good. The football season. The fans were excited to get back to the games, get back to tailgating. Husker fans are always very loyal. So, we did have a really good fall," Schlievert told News Channel Nebraska.
'The Husker Place' in Norfolk has been open since 1977 and is excited for 2022.
