NORFOLK, Neb. -- A Humphrey native and Northeast Community College student was presented the Citizen Lifesaver Award Friday.

On May 18th of 2021, Riley Butts helped a woman who crashed her car into a tree which resulted in her car catching fire.

Riley not only reported the crash to the authorities but leaped into action breaking a window and pulling the woman out of her car.

The award was presented to him Friday morning in a ceremony at the Nebraska State Patrol Post Troop B Headquarters in Norfolk.

"It really means a lot to me. I didn't know I would ever get something like this," he said. "They gave me a call one day when I was heading home from work and now I'm here."

Riley is currently studying Auto Body Repair Technology at Northeast Community College.

He would like to one day open up his own auto body shop with his best friend and repair cars.
