Former Macy Woman Sentenced for Assault with Machete

A former Macy woman was sentenced today in federal court for assaulting a man with a machete.

The United States Attorney Jan Sharp announced that 22-year-old Kiana Phillips, of Emerson, Nebraska, was sentenced today in federal court in Omaha for misdemeanor assault.

Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. sentenced Phillips to 4 months’ imprisonment. After her release from prison, she will begin a 1-year term of supervised release.

On May 22, 2020, Phillips assaulted a male with a machete at her then-residence in Macy, Nebraska, within the boundaries of the Omaha Nation Indian Reservation. The victim sustained deep lacerations to his fingers because of the assault. 

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Omaha Nation Law Enforcement Services.
