MADISON, Neb. -- It was a packed house at Tuesday's Madison County Commissioners meeting bringing forth a potential development for the North Fork Transit Agency and a discussion on election security for the county.
The board has to decide on whether to use ARPA funds from the federal government a decision which will be made in the future.
"We heard from them today about their plans to grow and where they can be supported federally as a 5307 status. I think we can help multiply our money we can give by 80 percent," said Troy Uhlir, the Chairman of the Madison County Board of Commissioners.
5307 status allows federal resources to be available to urban areas as well as operating assistance and transportation-related planning.
The second part of today's meeting was a discussion with concerned residents about election integrity.
The board plans to go to the state with questions about making future elections more secure after worries from the public about electronics and ballot issues.
The commissioners want to assure voters that they are taken seriously and that their votes are being counted.
