O'NEILL, Neb. -- It's not official yet, but an Ainsworth High School sophomore has tied a Class C record in the high jump.

Carter Nelson, who won the Class C state title as a freshman last year, cleared 7'0" at a meet yesterday in O'Neill.

If the jump is made official, it would match the 7'0" leap cleared by Arapahoe's Josh Long in 1994. The all-class high jump record was set by Papillion-La Vista's Randal Carter in 2007, when he cleared 7'4".

That wasn't the only record set by Nelson on Tuesday. He also set school records in the 200 meter dash and the discus. Nelson finished the 200m in 22.5 seconds and recorded a toss of 158'10" in the discus. He also won the pole vault with a winning attempt of 13'6".
