ASHLAND, Neb. – A southeast Nebraska town began construction Monday as it prepares for the arrival of ALLO fiber-optic internet.

After working closely with the city to complete the necessary agreements, ALLO has partnered with local contractors to begin building the fiber-optic infrastructure.

"This is a very big thing to have ALLO come into Ashland," Mayor Richard Grauerholtz said. "We've been looking forward to this day for a number of years."

Throughout the various stages of construction, residents and businesses will receive advance notice by mail of necessary work in yards and easements, said ALLO Senior Manager of Plant Operations Ed Jarrett. ALLO technicians may also knock on neighborhood doors to answer questions, Jarrett said.

The process starts with ALLO designing fiber-optic routes, followed by ALLO partnering with contractors to install underground ductwork. ALLO will then access each splice vault and pedestal to splice the fiber that will connect to homes and businesses.

Once installed, the all-fiber connection will be available for internet, TV and phone for Ashland residents, at which point customers will then call ALLO to set up the individual service.

“ALLO is very excited to expand our services to the Ashland community," ALLO President Brad Moline said. "The regional fiber footprint, which includes the Ashland Lake Community, will make this successful community even more exceptional. ALLO's purpose is to enable and future-proof each community we serve, and we look forward to providing next-generation technology to this progressive community.
