NORFOLK, Neb. -- A 19-year-old and a 25-year-old were arrested after drugs were reportedly found during a northeast Nebraska traffic stop.

Just before midnight Friday night, a Norfolk Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for reportedly having a broken tail light.

The officer had contact with the driver, 19-year-old Logan Evans, and 25-year-old passenger, Spencer Volden. During the stop, the officer reportedly smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The passengers were asked to exit the vehicle and officers searched the car. Located in a backpack where Volden had been sitting were several controlled substances, according to Norfolk Police Capt. Michael Bauer. Officers recovered a large bag of marijuana, a small amount of cocaine, a fentanyl pill, LSD papers, psilocybin mushrooms, a digital scale and packaging materials, Bauer said.

Volden was arrested for three counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute. Evans was arrested for aiding and abetting a felony.

Both were housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail
