Candidates advance in Norfolk city council, school board elections

A pair of governing bodies in Norfolk saw candidates move into the general election on Tuesday night.

NORFOLK, Neb. -- A pair of governing bodies in Norfolk saw candidates move into the general election on Tuesday night.

Incumbent Andrew McCarthy and Zach Steiner advanced to the November ballot for Norfolk City Council's Ward 4 seat, edging out Michele Sanchez. McCarthy and Steiner will now square off for the seat in the general election.

Meanwhile, seven people squared off for six spots on the general election for the Norfolk School Board. Jake Claussen, Cindy Booth, Leann Widhalm, Lindsay Rohleder-Dixon and Leonor Fuhrer will move to the November ballot, with Randy Dee failing to advance. The remaining candidates will battle for three seats on the board.
