Mettler, Bomar advance in Battle Creek mayoral race

Two candidates are advancing in the race for the Battle Creek mayor's seat.

BATTLE CREEK, Neb. -- Two candidates are advancing in the race for the Battle Creek mayor's seat.

A crowded field of three candidates in the rural community will be pared down to two after Tuesday night's primary election vote.

Heath Mettler led the way with 51.6 percent of the vote. Also advancing is former Madison mayor John Bomar with 30.0 percent of the vote. Barry Ponton was eliminated after receiving 18.3 percent of the tally.
