Winside teacher pleads not guilty to charges stemming from alleged relationship with student

A jury will determine the fate of a Winside teacher who faces sexual assault charges.

WAYNE, Neb. -- A jury will determine the fate of a Winside teacher who faces sexual assault charges.

On Monday, Rachel McPhillips pleaded not guilty on two charges. She paid bond of $4,000.

The 28-year-ol McPhillips allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a student of hers. The case was opened after a harassment protection order was filed against her.

Authorities allege that the relationship occurred between September of 2021 and April of 2022 with a victim who is currently 16.

She is scheduled to start a pre-trial in June.
