WINSIDE, Neb. -- Severe thunderstorms are leaving potential damage in northeast Nebraska.

Flash flooding has been reported near Winside early Tuesday afternoon. As a result, a flash flood warning is in effect for Wayne County until 2:45 p.m. CT.

Just before noon, trained weather spotters reported significant runoff out of fields and ditches flowing over county roads. This runoff is likely to cause flash flooding of creeks and streams, the National Weather Service said.

Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen, NWS officials said. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area.
