NORFOLK, Neb. -- Northeast Nebraska Growing Together, along with businesses in the Norfolk area, hosted an intern mixer at Midwest Bank on Thursday.

Over 60 people, including interns and new hires, came together to meet and network with other business leaders in the area.

Lydee Jo Krueger, media sales specialist for Flood Communications, was the special guest speaker for the event.

"The intern mixer last night was a great way to get those that are from the northeast area, here on an internship, or a brand new hire to a business to connect with other people that are in the same boat as they are," said Krueger.

Krueger highlighted the importance of volunteering in the speech she gave to a crowd of prospective business leaders of northeast Nebraska.

"It is so important for folks that have just moved to the community to know how they can live, work, play and grow right here in Northeast Nebraska," Krueger said.

As a way for the interns to connect, Paige Arnold, who works at CED Industrial Solutions, had everyone play Kahoot to get to know each other.

"Being connected at a fresh start is one of the best ways to build those roots and get people to stay in northeast Nebraska," Krueger said.
