NPD reminds everyone how to use fireworks legally and safely

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Before the upcoming 4th of July celebrations, the Norfolk Police Division explains the dates and times of using fireworks.

The report said fireworks are allowed to be used from June 25 through July 3 and from the time of 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. On July 4, fireworks are allowed from 8 a.m. to midnight.

NPD said if anyone violates the dates and times, they may receive a citation.

According to the report, fireworks can only be used on private property. They cannot be used close to people or buildings, thrown from or at a motor vehicle, or used on any street, highway, or sidewalk.

NPD said debris and trash from fireworks need to be cleaned up. Failure to follow these reminders could result in law enforcement having to make an arrest or issue a citation.
