Madison County mother sentenced for child abuse

MADISON, Neb. -- 28-year-old Jessica Arredondo was sentenced for child abuse by neglect and domestic assault.

Officials said Arredondo is facing 18 months of probation and 90 days in the Madison County Jail.

According to authorities, her charges of terroristic threats and use of a weapon were dropped.

The court documents said the mother assaulted and threatened the children's father in front of them and the parents were found to have used methamphetamine with the kids around.

Officials said the Court Appointed Special Advocate of Northeast Nebraska, an organization that helps kids in custody cases, is helping the kids in this case.
