Pender's drinking water back to normal, though outdoor use still restricted

PENDER, Neb. -- A northeast Nebraska town received the 'all clear' for its drinking water earlier this week.
According to the Pender Village Board, the community passed a pair of water tests over the weekend. With no E. coli or bacteria found in the tests, Pender was given the go-ahead on its drinking water. It had been in a boil advisory since Aug. 11.
Water use is still limited in the village, however, with residents being advised to avoid using water for outdoor purposes including lawn care.
The village also advised that the southwest quarter of town is currently experiencing jet vacuuming of its sewer lines, meaning that some residents may briefly experience a smell coming from basement floor drains.
