WAKEFIELD, Neb.-- Michael Foods in Wakefield held an important company-wide event Thursday.

The egg products company hosted their annual safety fair with OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week to continue to remind and educate people on the best safety practices in the workplace.

The campaign is a nationwide event held every August to recognize the successes of workplace health and safety programs and offers information and ideas on how to keep America's workers safe.

Brady Weaver, who is the operational manager at the plant, said safety is the companies number one priority.

“It’s really ownership on everyone’s part,” Weaver said. “Everyone has to own safety. It’s about making sure we’re living what we’re preaching. We’re teaching people the right way to do things, holding people accountable. But everyone has to want to be safe and own safety.”

Another important event might be coming up soon for the company as well. In about a month, the company could be celebrating a year without any workplace accidents.
