NORFOLK, Neb. -- A man suspected of shoplifting at a northeast Nebraska Walmart was arrested on several other charges, including suspected meth possession.

According to Norfolk Police Capt. Michael Bauer, officers were called to the Norfolk Walmart on Pasewalk Avenue Saturday afternoon.

A male suspect had reportedly left the store without paying for merchandise and was running from the area.

Officers located the suspect, 35-year-old Brit J. Blanchard, in the 1800 block of Vicki Lane. A check of his record showed that he had an active Stanton County arrest warrant, and he was taken into custody.

In a subsequent search, officers recovered methamphetamine and a glass pipe from Blanchard, Bauer stated. The stolen merchandise, totaling $362, was also recovered.

Blanchard was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and shoplifting. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
