Wayne PD arrests man accused of brandishing weapon near WSC campus

A suspect was arrested near Wayne State College late Monday night after police received reports of an armed person near the school.

WAYNE, Neb. -- A suspect was arrested near Wayne State College late Monday night after police received reports of an armed person near the school.

WSC campus security manager Jason Mrsny sent an email to staff, faculty and students that Wayne Police responded to a 911 call at 11:45 p.m. in the area of East 10th Street and Windom Street.

Witnesses told police that a man brandished a weapon while speaking to them.

Wayne Police officers contacted the suspect at 11:59. Mrsy said the man, who was arrested, is not affiliated with the college. He did not say whether or not a gun was found on the man.
