PONCA, Neb. – A northeast Nebraska man is in custody after being accused of chasing a woman with a knife while her child watched.

According to court documents, 33-year-old Tomas Perez Luis faces three felony charges and three misdemeanors after an incident in Wakefield last week.

A woman told authorities that she came home from work to find Luis waiting outside her home. She said that when she tried to go inside and talk to the man, with whom she had a relationship, he picked up a knife and tried to stab her.

Court records state that one child witnessed the incident while two others were in the house sleeping.

Luis claimed that he had gotten mad that day due to a four-year-old affair that he said the woman had had. He denied that he had chased the woman with a knife. Neither the woman nor her child could remember where he had placed the knife after the alleged incident, police reports state.

Luis faces felony charges of terroristic threats, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony and possession of a deadly weapon while committing a felony. He also faces misdemeanor charges of domestic assault, child abuse/neglect and disturbing the peace.

He was due for an arraignment Tuesday morning in Dixon County Court.
