STANTON, Neb. -- The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office received a check donation of $6,000 on Tuesday.

The Stanton United Methodist Church recently closed and the church leaders decided to donate their assets from the church property sale to multiple organizations. The trustees of the church voted to use some of the money to help the Sheriff's Office with funds for equipment and training.

SCSO said they have already bought new mobile radar equipment with the donated money and the remaining will be going towards training. The left over money is added to the over $1100 that was given to SCSO earlier this year by the family of Debbie Timperley, who died unexpectedly in January, as a memorial gift.

“We are very grateful to the Methodist Church members and Dr. Dennis Timperley and his family for their generous support of our office and helping update our limited equipment, we are very fortunate to have such thoughtful people in our community," Sheriff Mike Unger said.
