Multiple goals leads Hawk's women's soccer back to championship game

The Hawks took a commanding 15-0 victory to earn their place in the Region XI Championship for the third-straight year.

NORFOLK, Neb.-- The No. 7 Northeast Community College women’s soccer team competed in a Region XI Semifinal against Southeastern Community College at home in Norfolk. The Hawks took a commanding 15-0 victory to earn their place in the Region XI Championship for the third-straight year. 

The Hawks (17-2-1, 9-1 ICCAC) had previously taken down the Blackhawks by final scores of 12-0 and 9-0 in the regular season.

Defender Erica Derby (Keenesburg, Colorado) scored two goals while forward Taryn O’Brien (Lakewood, Colo.) punched in four to break the school record for most goals in a season.

“We are going to have to prepare,” Head women’s soccer coach Chad Miller said. “We’ve played them already, so we just have to prepare for it. As long as we come with the focus that we had today, this team makes me confident. I don’t have any doubt in them. We’ll just come out and play and do our thing.” 

The Hawks will host the Region XI Championship against Hawkeye Community College at 3 p.m. Sunday at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
