Condon ends Election Day with slight lead over Morfeld for Lancaster County Attorney
A hotly contested race for Lancaster County Attorney appears to have gone to the incumbent.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A hotly contested race for Lancaster County Attorney appears to have gone to the incumbent.
By late Tuesday night, Pat Condon held a slim 2,000 vote edge on challenge Adam Morfeld. A little over 7,000 votes remained to be counted. Those included early ballots, resolution ballots and provisional ballots, all of which are expected to be counted in the next week to 10 days.
Morfeld, a Democrat, entered the race after being term-limited in the Nebraska Legislature. He was seeking to become the first Democrat in over 60 years to claim the position.
Condon, a Republican and longtime prosecutor, was initially appointed to the position in 2018 before winning an election later that year.
Republican leaders challenged Morfeld's eligibility for the race, only to be turned away. Several attack ads were purchased and allegations were levied. Over $800,000 in spending went into the race, between both candidates and a conservative PAC.
