STANTON, Neb. -- A man from South Dakota was taken to the hospital with severe injuries after a single-vehicle rollover accident near Stanton.

The Stanton County Sheriff's Office said officers were dispatched to 566th Ave., about seven miles north of Stanton, around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday for a reported one-vehicle rollover accident.

According to authorities, the car was traveling south when the driver lost control and went into the west ditch, rolling and landing on the top of the vehicle.

Officers said the driver was a 26-year-old man, from Sioux Falls, S.D. and he was taken to a nearby hospital with severe facial/head injuries. He was also cited for no operator's license.

Officials said the airbags had gone off and the driver was wearing a seatbelt. They believe that speed was a contributing factor to the accident.
