Reported break in attempt lands Norfolk man in jail

The Norfolk Police Division arrested a man that reportedly tried to break into a woman's home.

NORFOLK, Neb. -- The Norfolk Police Division arrested a man that reportedly tried to break into a woman's home.

NPD said officers were sent to a home in the 900 block of S 14th St. around 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 3.

Officers said the victim reported that a 35-year-old Norfolk man tried to break into her home. The victim reportedly has an active protection order against the man.

According to authorities, the man used a screwdriver and pushed the door open, trying to get into the home. There were other people inside the home and they were reportedly able to hold the door shut and call the police.

Officials said the man fled the scene when the police were called but the officers were able to find him. The man was arrested for protection order violation, trespassing, and disturbing the peace. He was booked at the Norfolk City Jail and then taken to the Madison County Jail.
