Wayne man sentenced to prison for March incident in rural Stanton County
STANTON, Neb. – A 38-year-old northeast Nebraska man is heading to prison on charges out of Stanton County.
Jeffrey Olsufka, of Wayne, was sentenced in Stanton County District Court Monday morning.
Olsufka was handed down a one-year prison sentence for third-offense DWI, and an additional year for possession of methamphetamine. He also received six months for resisting arrest. All three sentences are to be served consecutively. Olsufka also received a $1,000 fine and had his driver’s license revoked for 15 years.
Olsufka was arrested in March off a county road in southern Stanton County.
Stanton County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly found Olsufka partially clothed in a running vehicle while in a “compromising sexual act.”
According to the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office, Olsufka refused to cooperate and actively resisted arrest at one point.
Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger said that Olsufka re-entered his vehicle and placed it into gear, at which point Unger said that the disabled the car by firing a round into the front driver’s side tire.
Unger said Olsufka was arrested despite continued attempts to resist.
Olsufka was found to be under the influence of alcohol and methamphetamine, with authorities finding meth inside the car.
Olsufka was treated at the scene by Leigh Rescue and later jailed.
He pleaded guilty in October.
