WAYNE, Neb. -- The Wayne State basketball teams split their New Year's Eve games against Augustana on Saturday.
The Wildcat men made 24 of their 26 free throw attempts to claim a 71-63 win over the Vikings.
Jordan Janssen finished the game with his third straight double-double and seventh of the season with 23 points and 10 rebounds, going 11 of 12 at the charity stripe.
The Wildcats improve to 11-3 and 6-2 in the NSIC while Augustana drops to 7-7 and 3-5 in league play.
A late rally wasn't enough for the WSC women's squad, with the Wildcats dropping an 80-77 decision.
Lauren Zacharias and Kassidy Pingel paced Wayne State with 18 points apiece.
Wayne State falls to 9-3 on the season with a 5-3 record in the NSIC South Division. Augustana with the win moves to 12-2 on the season with a 6-2 NSIC South Division record.
